Zulqarnain Haider, wicket keeper for Pakistan Cricket Team announced his retirement from international cricket. Zulqarnain disappeared from Dubai, hours before fourth one day international. Pakistan was playing against South Africa in Dubai.
Zulqarnain fled to Britain, as he was threatened by match-fixers before fourth one day international. He said a person approached him during his dinner before the day of fourth one day and asked him to cooperate in fixing fourth and fifth one day matches. He added the person threatened him to face consequences; he and his family would have to face problems.
Zulqarnain said he was concerned with safety of his family. He did not choose the option of complaining to his team manager, as it would force his team mates to face problems. Zulqarnain said he was still interested in playing domestic matches but not international.
The latest episode reveals that some of the Pakistan players have not learned anything from the recent past when their top three players along with the captain were suspended from playing cricket for spot fixing.
